Context, an Internet security firm says that WebGL contains security flaws that can allow a hacker to gain access to a computer using the Windows graphics driver. According to Context, the WebGL flaw is serious enough that core system functions may be exposed and exploited. Currently, WebGL has been adopted by the Chrome and Firefox Web browsers. It is also supported by Macintosh OSX 10.6. The service can be turned on in the newest versions of Safari (WebKit), but isn’t enabled by default in other versions of the browser.

Catalyst 11.5 Driver for Windows Now Available

The Catalyst 11.5 drivers do offer some new features, but primarily deliver bug fixes and solutions to known problems. The added features are designed for the Hydravision and Eyefinity models. With one exception, the bug fixes are devoted to addressing known issues in Windows 7. One issue with Crossfire running on Windows XP has been addressed.

Microsoft did fix a host of important vulnerabilities, but the Duqu hack was as yet untouched in a permanent way. That’s not to say that Microsoft has done nothing about Duqu. If you were paying attention to your updates last week, you’ll know that Microsoft zinged out a little stinger designed to help vulnerable systems dodge the Duqu bullet. The little fix simply eliminates access to T2EMBED.DLL, a dynamic linked library used to display True Type ftons.

The Momentus XT drive will store up to 500 GB and is a combination flash-traditional drive. Hybrid drives were introduced in 2007, but the road to their promised performance hasn’t been smooth. In addition, Seagate says that it has corrected initial design issues to correct driver problems that prevented the drives from working properly with Windows Vista without additional help.
