The company was prompted to issue the suggestion after it turned the feature on in a beta test and noted a sharp increase in the number of application crashes. As part of the fix, Mozilla automatically disabled hardware acceleration for computers whose installed drivers were known to be problematic. Mozilla says that installing the latest drivers often results in stable performance from its hardware acceleration feature.
